Just One Backyard: One Man’s Search for Food Sustainability 

Dr. Z will present an entertaining and enlightening tale of how he turned his entire urban residential backyard into a food garden and measured the many benefits it provided. For over 5 years, he collected data on the economic, environmental and social importance of this one backyard to his household, his community and beyond. The results from his efforts are inspirational and empowering. Truly, just one backyard can make all the difference in the world!

The event will be held at Duke’s Alehouse at 110 North Main Street in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The event will begin at 5pm on Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 in the second floor meeting space. Duke’s Alehouse is conveniently located across the street from the Metra Union Pacific Northwest’s Crystal Lake Station. Copies of his signed books will be made available for sale with profits being donated to the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County for the purchase of seeds and materials for prairie restoration.
